So, just remember to throw your toilet paper in the trash instead of flushing it and you’ll be all set!

It’s safe to drink the tap water in Cartagena, but I didn’t because I was worried about getting sick in South America. I would definitely drink the tap water here now that I know it’s safe.

I have traveled solo to Cartagena from Santa Marta by bus and have spent time on my own in the city, and I have also been on a ladies’ trip with a friend. In all of my experiences, I have felt safe and comfortable in Cartagena. The people are friendly and welcoming, and I never once felt like I was in danger. I would definitely recommend Cartagena as a safe destination for women travelers!
